OSAKA CASTLE

Osaka Castle & Morinomiya

Stone walls, water and open space.

Think of Osaka Castle as a park visit, not a quick stop at a tower. Leave time for the paths, moat and stone walls between the station and the main keep. An outdoor walk and a museum visit need different amounts of time.

Follow the moat and stone walls

Make room for the water, walls and turrets rather than only the tower. Plan your walk towards a useful return station so you need not retrace every step through the park.

BEFORE YOU SET OFF

A few things to know before you go.

Getting there

Options include JR Osakajokoen and Morinomiya, and Osaka Metro Morinomiya, Tanimachi 4-chome and Osaka Business Park. Choose an entrance using the official park map.

If it rains

Even a tower visit involves an outdoor walk from the station. Bring rain protection and suitable shoes; consider another day for a long park walk in bad weather.

Food and breaks

Plan a drink and rest stop before a long walk. If entering the tower, account for your meal and the approach from the station when deciding when to arrive.

Before heading back

Nearby events can change the flow of people around stations and the park. Check whether an event overlaps with your visit.
