Learning hub / First visit
Your first amusement poker visit in Osaka
Start by learning enough to follow the game, then choose a session where you can ask questions. You do not need to master strategy before speaking to a beginner-friendly host.

1. Learn, check, then practise
STEP 1
Understand a hand
Follow the deal, the shared cards and showdown. Be able to explain fold, check and call before adding more tactics.
Read the basic rules →STEP 2
Recognise the result
Review the hand rankings, then try the quiz. Revisit a confusing pair of hands instead of memorising everything at once.
Try the hand quiz →STEP 3
Practise the sequence
Use the free browser table to wait for your turn and choose an action. It is heads-up practice; a venue may seat more players and use different rules.

If a result surprises you, use the hand rankings. Use practice to learn the sequence, not to predict how well you will do at a real table.
2. Check six things with the venue
Compare real Osaka venues by fees, beginner support and access → Each profile includes official sources, check dates and a short list of questions for your visit.
Travelling from abroad? Read the visitor guide to ID, apps, English support and fees, and see why chips are never cashed out.
Use the venue's own website or official contact channel for your exact date. The following is a preparation checklist; it does not confirm any venue's prices, available seats or event schedule.
- A session for beginners
- Is there a lesson on your date? Confirm its start time, available places, duration and whether advance booking is required.
- Admission and language
- Ask about age requirements, accepted identification and registration. Ask separately whether a lesson and table support are available in your language.
- Total cost
- Check the entry fee, lesson or game fee, required drinks and any time-based or optional additional charges. Decide your total spending limit before accepting extras.
- The play format
- Ask whether the session is an introductory table, open play or a scheduled tournament, and when you may join or leave. Confirm that the activity matches the non-cash-redemption amusement format you intend to visit.
- Getting there
- Save the official address, building name, floor and entrance. A map pin alone may not show the right doorway.
- Changes and the way home
- Check cancellation terms and the latest announcement for your date. Set a departure time based on your return journey, not just the venue's closing time.
Keep a simple note: visit date, lesson start, total required cost, optional extras, required documents and departure time. If a required cost is unclear, ask before reserving.
Keep a first-visit checklist
Tick what you have checked. The checklist stays on this page; it is not sent or saved. Checking every box does not confirm a booking or verify the venue.

Playing with friends before a visit? Use the timer to practise a session length, not to infer a venue’s tournament structure. Open the blind timer →
Prepare a take-along memo for the day → Keep your own times, entrance and questions; save locally or print after checking the conditions above.
3. Say you are new before taking a seat
This short script is a starting point. Replace the departure time with your own plan and let the staff explain the session before agreeing to join.
“It is my first visit. I have practised the basic rules. Is there a beginner session today? What is the total required cost, and can I leave by my planned departure time?”
At the table, follow the action, wait for your turn and make your intended action clear. Ask the dealer when you are unsure, without revealing your cards or asking another player how to play a live hand.
These basic habits are consistent with the player-responsibility section of the official Poker TDA rules. A venue's adopted rules and staff rulings still need checking; this link does not establish that an Osaka venue uses TDA rules.
4. Plan the trip, then review one question
Find the venue entrance first, then search from your hotel or arrival station. In the Osaka/Umeda and Namba districts, leave time to walk between railway stations. Save a return route for the time you actually plan to leave.
- Search Osaka Metro routes and fares
- Get your bearings in Osaka / Umeda
- Plan time around Namba and Shinsaibashi
After a session, pick one unclear term or situation. Look it up in the glossary and repeat that part of the practice game. There is no need to turn a first visit into a performance test.
